How to Lead a Fast & Successful Drive—Everybody Can Help!
We’ve all done it. Our jaws drop after we hear or read about a disaster. We wonder over the short term “what can I do to help”. Hopefully you’ll help in your own way. But, if you really want to help those in-need in a larger way by getting your friends involved and do it FAST!, well we’d like to help with the planning.
Hi! I’m currently a Life Scout in our Troop and I led a team of volunteers in a service project that collected about $8,000 worth of food, snacks and paper products for Hurricanes Katrina & Rita victims. In all we planned-out the drive, got supplies, publicized the drive, gathered and brought 4,800 items and to the local food pantry in about 3 weeks.
If you are planning a Crisis-Relief Drive, we’ve put together a simple and hopefully easy-to-use Planning Guide and Web-link for your Troop, Pack or Community Organization’s use. Although our drives collected food, paper and hygiene products, this plan is useful for other sorts of collection efforts. It’s broken down into these 5 steps.
